School Policies

General Student Information
 
Behavior 
The Kern High School District discipline code provides guidelines for acceptable behavior. Students will be held accountable for their actions.
 
Bullying Awareness
Central Valley staff all believe that students have the right to a safe school environment and will not tolerate any behavior that infringes on the safety of any student. Please notify school personnel of any incidents of bullying.
 
Electronic Devices Policy
Students may use their cell phones before and after school, during breaks between classes, and during lunch. Cell phones may not be used during class time unless approved by the teacher for instructional purposes.
 
Attendance
Daily attendance is especially important at Central Valley. The amount of credit and grade earned depends on attendance, which is taken each period. Students may be required to submit a doctor’s note if they have excessive absences. Central Valley follows the KHSD policies and procedures for truancy and excessive absences.
 
Tardy Policy
A student who arrives at school late must check in with the office to receive a late pass to class.
 
Bus Transportation
Students riding the bus are expected follow all policies and procedures of the KHSD. Riding the bus is a privilege that may be revoked due to behavior issues.
 
Counseling Services
Central Valley has a full-time counselor and a part time intervention specialist for student support.
 
Credits
Credits are awarded for course completion. Grades are determined by the teacher. Students are encouraged to speak with the Site Administrator, School Secretary, Counselor, or Teachers if there are questions about credits earned.
