On March 8th, Mr. Gutierrez took a van load of students to participate in the Cesar Chavez Day of Service. Each year the community is invited to take part in this day of service to honor the life and legacy of civil rights activist César Chávez. The  Cesar E. Chavez Nation Monument is a 116-acre U.S. Nation Monument in Keene. The property was the headquarters of the United Farm Workers, and home to Cesar Chavez from the early 1970s until his death in 1993; it includes his gravesite.

The school communities are invited to get involved in this day of service. This was our second year of involvement. While our students may have taken on some grounds keeping tasks, they were also treated to a tour of the facilities, a delicious lunch and lively entertainment.
