On Thursday, January 28th, Kern High School District held the final chess tournament of the year. More than one hundred students competed from nine different high schools. Central Valley ended in the fifth spot right behind top ranked Highland, followed by Ridgeview, South then Liberty. Our own Jesus Medina finished 4th overall just missing a top 3 trophy.

Central Valley competitors were Jesus Medina, Jonathan Llamas, Edy Montoya, Joel McDowell, Gustavo Trujillo and Victor Gomez.
